The world’s largest khadi national flag has been unveiled in Leh

The world’s largest khadi national flag was unveiled in Leh on October 2. The tricolour was erected on the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R. K. Mathur. Indian Army Chief Manoj Narwane was also present on the occasion. The 57th Regiment of Engineers of the Indian Army has built the largest khadi flag, which is hoisted at an altitude of 2,000 feet above sea level in Leh.

The flag, which was raised at a height of 2,000 feet in Leh, is 225 feet long. The flag is 150 feet wide. This flag is made entirely of khadi and weighs as much as 1000 kg! The flag was hoisted on a 2,000-foot-high hill by 150 soldiers from the 57th Engineer Regiment.

लेहमध्ये जगातल्या सर्वात मोठ्या खादी तिरंग्याचं अनावरण

२ ऑक्टोबर हा गांधी जयंतीचा मुहूर्त साधून लेहमध्ये जगातल्या सर्वात मोठ्या खादीच्या राष्ट्रीय ध्वजाचं अनावरण करण्यात आलं आहे. महात्मा गांधीजींच्या १५२व्या जयंतीनिमित्ताने हा तिरंगा तिथे लावण्यात आला असून त्याचं उद्घाटन लडाखचे लेफ्टनंट गव्हर्नर आर. के. माथूर यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आलं आहे. यावेळी भारताचे लष्करप्रमुख मनोज नरवणे देखील उपस्थित होते. भारतीय लष्कराच्या ५७ इंजिनिअर रेजिमेंटने हा सर्वात मोठा खादीचा ध्वज तयार केला असून तो लेहमध्ये समुद्रसपाटीपासून २००० फूट उंचीवर ठेवण्यात आला आहे.

लेहमध्ये २००० फूट उंचावर ठेवण्यात आलेल्या या ध्वजाची लांबी तब्बल २२५ फूट आहे. तर ध्वजाची रुंदी १५० फूट इतकी आहे. हा ध्वज पूर्णपणे खादीचा असून त्याचं वजन तब्बल १ हजार किलो इतकं आहे! ५७ इंजिनिअर रेजिमेंटच्या १५० जवानांनी मिळून हा ध्वज २००० फूट उंचीच्या टेकडीवर नेला.
